Godalming Museum, ref 2238

This photograph of the High Street, probably from about 1890, shows, on the left:

-the present no. 13 High Street signed F & A Berry,

-the present nos 15-17, signed Godalming Stores

-a white house that was demolished to make way for Queen Street

-a building that was where no. 19 now stands

-nos 21-23, which looks very similar to the present building (Dyas) but without the three gables

-the corner of the roof of Skinners' Hall, nos 25-45

On the right is the King's Arms Hotel and the angle of the photograph makes it possible to see the pattern of bricks with burnt ends that make this facade so attractive.
