The Labours of the Months on the allotment- January to June
Stained glass windows by Rachel Mulligan Photograph by Giles Pattison
These twelve panels are based on the medieval theme of the Labours of the Months. Inspired by Rachel’s allotment in George Road, Farncombe, which she shares with three friends, the panels tell the story of a year on the “lottie”. They reflect the social side of gardening, as well as the hard work and bountiful produce.
Although the scenes they record are modern, the panels have a medieval feel, with quirky figures and detailed depiction of seasonal tasks.
Surrey Artist of the Year 2014, Rachel Mulligan lives and works in Farncombe.
