Mayford Art Group
Members of Woking Art Society, this group formed as a result of their teacher, Jo Quigley, retiring. As they wanted to keep up their painting momentum they now meet once a week on a termly basis and help and encourage each other. Their works are wide ranging from intense landscapes to animal portraits.
JAGO ART - Two Sisters
-Both working artists, Deborah and Helen Jago cover a wide range of media and styles. Deborah works in watercolours, stained glass and fabrics. Helen paints in various media and also sculpts. Their joint exhibition promises to be diverse and exciting.-
Nature's Paintbrush - wild and tamed
-Helen Hiorns is a local artist whose primary work is finely accurate watercolours of trees, plants and flowers, with a contemporary twist. She will be exhibiting with her sister Susan who now lives in the Yorkshire Dales. Susan Calverley Parker’s landscape paintings are semi-abstract mixed media works which explore how we influence our scenery.-
'Barber's Son - Hairdresser's Daughter' present, North, South East, West
Artist Susie Darnton has chosen her childhood home town of Godalming in which to create an alternative museum. This includes the last slice of bread from Hillyer’s, an empty pill bottle from Duncan’s, a sixpence delivered by the tooth fairy after a tooth was extracted by Mr. Peter Cordell, the telephone from `Margery’s’, a sign from Messenger, May , Baverstock and other ephemera which suggest stories and history. Alongside are paintings that recall the landscape of the locality entwined with stories from children’s books borrowed from `Library Joan’ on Friday evenings.
Godalming Photographic Club
Godalming Photograhic Club’s annual exhibition showcases the best of its work both as prints and digital images. Having won four regional competitions in the last year, GPC is one of the foremost clubs in Surrey so this is an event not to be missed. With around 80 active members GPC meets most Wednesdays from September to June and always welcomes new members.
A Postcard from Godalming
Stephen Goddard has selected old postcards of Godalming and considered both the image on one side and the message on the other. He has painted the view on the card as it is today and delved into the greetings sent and people involved. As usual in August there will be activities to entertain both young and old, related to the exhibition.
Studio 12 are a group of artists who attend portrait and life classes at Wanborough village hall every Thursday morning and in the summer go on outdoor painting days. Their exhibition will show a variety of personal styles and interpretations of a range of themes.
This local group meet at Broadwater Park Community centre . Regular exhibitors, they always produce a great variety of work revealing their individual talents both traditional and modern.
